Springfield House is a prominent landmark detached Grade II Listed office building, originally built for Richard Balston in 1891 as owner of the adjoining papermill. He commissioned renowned architect, Alfred Waterhouse, whose gothic designs were much admired and who had previously designed Manchester town hall, Balliol College Oxford, Pembroke College, Cambridge, the Natural History Museum, London and the George Street Headquarters of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in Parliament Square.

The building has accommodation over 4 floors. The landscaped grounds extend to approximately 1.2 acres and they are approached by a new access road and incorporate west and south facing terraces, mature trees and two magnificent magnolias.  A full renovation commenced in 2006 and was completed in late 2007.
